ACCOUNTANT
Analyzes corporate transactions for accurate financial reporting, prepares financial reports for management and those required by regulators. Works with external auditors in the auditing of corporate financial controls and assists with federal and state tax filings. A strong education in accounting is essential.
ACTUARY
Analyzes and quantifies the financial impact of risk and uncertainty. The actuary develops and validates financial models to aid in business decisions, which may include insurance coverage pricing, new product development, loss reserving, and risk management. A strong background in calculus, probability, and statistics is essential.
ATTORNEY
Interprets the law and insurance contracts and protects the Company’s legal interests. An attorney provides advice and counsel on claim coverage, procedures, and strategies with respect to high exposure claims and lawsuits.
AUTOMATION SUPPORT
Support technicians and analysts primarily answer automation questions from the agencies who sell our insurance. They also conduct training sessions to help the agents become familiar with our automated systems. Ideal candidates possess a high level of computer skills and a great customer service attitude.
BUSINESS ANALYST
The business analyst focuses on gathering business requirements and creating a business solution. A business analyst participates in product development activities, including requirements gathering, interviews, analysis, and writing requirements.
CLAIM REPRESENTATIVE
investigates, evaluates and determines the appropriate disposition of all types of claims arising out of business written by our independent agents. A claim representative reviews various policies, analyzes coverages, and meets with parties involved with claims in an effort to bring the claim to a fair, efficient and timely conclusion. The claim representative must possess good interpersonal communication skills, exhibit good judgment and sound reasoning, and have the ability to multi-task. The claim representative’s work can be exciting, challenging and very diverse.
CLERICAL
Maintain all claims and/or policy files; sort and prepare incoming/outgoing mail.
DOCUMENT PROCESSING
Mechanically insert and mail policies, invoices and checks, sort and distribute incoming mail, assemble and process policies, file and mail all outgoing agent, branch and marketing mail as well as all other company mail.
GRAPHIC ARTS
Print and assemble company policy forms and brochures.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
A programmer and systems analyst analyzes, develops, tests and maintains new and existing software applications in support of core organizational functions. A computer operator controls a mainframe computer and monitors the console, storage devices and printers. A PC support technician installs, diagnoses, repairs, maintains and upgrades all computer hardware. A network support technician installs, configures, maintains and optimizes all network software, servers and communication lines while ensuring minimal network downtime.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Is also available to students who are entering their junior or senior year at a college or university with an interest in insurance. The internship will allow the participant to explore career opportunities in an employment setting while allowing the company to evaluate the participant’s qualification for future employment. The intern will learn the essential functions of the job performed. Our internship program focuses on the following areas: Information Technology, Actuarial, Accounting, Claims, Underwriting and Purchasing. The time of employment occurs during the summer months.
MAINTENANCERegular upkeep and repair of buildings and grounds.
MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE
Communication is an important factor in the success of every business. A marketing representative works as a liaison between Auto-Owners and the independent agencies who sell our products. The marketing representative informs agencies of important business developments as well as changes in the Company's policies and practices. A marketing representative must be versatile, experienced in insurance, diplomatic, and willing to travel in a defined geographical area. Knowledge of people is just as important
as knowledge of insurance.
POLICYHOLDER SERVICES
Rate and enter all policy applications, policy endorsements and cancellations; resolve agent inquiries.
PREMIUM COLLECTIONS
Research and resolve customer inquiries; apply payments to proper accounts.
SECRETARIAL
Compose letters, memos and reports, use word processing software, schedule meetings, and handle correspondence and phone calls. Publish electronic correspondence; work with imaging technology for document storage and workflow.
SOFTWARE QUALITY ANALYST
The software quality analyst evaluates and tests new or modified software programs to make sure the programs perform properly.
UNDERWRITER
utilizes professional and technical expertise to review and analyze insurance applications from agents. They negotiate premiums, coverages and acceptability based on the information presented. Their decisions are based on knowledge, judgment and reasoning. An underwriter must have sound judgment, be an analytical thinker, look for answers and possess the ability to develop sound decision-making skills.
WAREHOUSE
Handle distribution of supplies for the Home Office, branches and agencies; maintain stored records.
