As a company, we focus our giving on supporting the communities where our associates, policyholders, and your independent agents live and work. We believe it is our corporate responsibility to aid local communities not only financially, but also with our time and talents.

A-O Gives Back Program

In January 2018, we launched our company giving program called A-O Gives Back. This program was created to expand our giving, and to empower our associates in the 26 states where we write business to support their community. This program provides each region with the opportunity to have a team of associates participate in pre-approved local charity events. In turn, Auto-Owners will corporately sponsor the events, subject to the program guidelines. Through this program, our associates have proudly and generously volunteered their time to many local charitable events. A-O Gives Back is another way that our company connects with the needs of each region where we do business on a local level.

Causes We Support

We are proud to partner with many outstanding organizations. To maximize our impact we have corporate donations and several company-wide associate giving initiatives throughout the year.

Our annual Suits & Sneakers event benefits the American Cancer Society. Associates can make a $5 donation to wear their sneakers to work for the day. This event helps fund cancer research, patient support services and cancer prevention education.

Martin Truex Jr. Foundation

Auto-Owners proudly sponsors NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr. The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation has a mission to raise awareness and generate financial support for underfunded cancer research initiatives specific to ovarian and childhood cancers. For the past several years, our employees have come together to support Martin’s foundation through donations. Corporately, we have matched those employee donations in order to maximize our collective impact towards the foundation’s goals.

Requesting Support

Philanthropic requests must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • No religious or political affiliation
  • All requests must be submitted at least 60 days prior to event date
  • Must be in an area where Auto-Owners Insurance writes business
  • Must be broad-reaching, not to the benefit of a single person
  • Must be a non-profit 501(c)(3)
